- Roseville and Rocklin and the surrounding communities are stepping up to help the evacuees from the Mosquito Fire. KCRA3 visited the evacuation center at Sierra College and they found stories of concern and fear but also of help and hope from the evacuees and volunteers that are there to help. Folks are driving up all the time to drop off needed clothing and supplies, and the evacuees, some who escaped with just the clothes on their backs, are grateful. Read some of the stories of hope in this article from KCRA3. (KCRA Sacramento)
- Taste of Lincoln “Showcase” is back! I love this kind of event because there are lots of small tastes and sips to sample, so you get a wide variety, and they are always phenomenal! The Lincoln Chamber puts on this event and this year there will be over 45 vendors to tantalize your taste buds. There will be live music all night long, including DJ, Professor Rockola and ZZ Tush (tribute to ZZ Top). All the action takes place at Beerman Plaza September 14 from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Nab yourself some tickets today! (Roseville Today)
- An observant officer’s traffic stop led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle and numerous items of stolen property from throughout the region — and likely prevented more thefts in Roseville. The officer noticed a vehicle drive slowly past a Prius, circle around and come back to drive by again. Priuses are favorites of catalytic converter thieves. The officer ran the plates and found out the car that was casing the Prius was stolen. Per police, "officers searched the stolen Nissan and found drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine packaged for sale. They also found a pipe cutter and several other tools that are commonly used to break into vehicles and steal catalytic converters. Their search turned up numerous suspected stolen credit cards, checks, mail, electronics and clothing with store security tags still attached." That cop was really on top of things! Thanks to him, Roseville streets are safer today (City of Roseville, California Police Department via Facebook)
- Per Roseville Firefighters Local 1592, "over the weekend Retired L1592 Member Jim Giblin, accompanied by his amazing wife Jess, completed a ... 3000 mile bike ride from LaPush, WA to NYC. His trip began on May 22 and ended on September 11 in NYC to honor the 343 fallen brothers who died on 9/11." The firefighter mounted his badge on the front of his bike with pride. Congratulations to Jim and Jess on this amazing accomplishment and thanks to all of the first responders who gave their lives on 9/11. (Roseville Firefighters Local 1592 via Facebook)
- Al fresco dining may be here to stay in Folsom, and let me just say, I’d be up for that! On September 13 the City Council considered an ordinance that would make the current outdoor dining program permanent. The current program was enacted in response to the COVID-19 outbreak and was to be ended, but following a review on August 23, the Council asked staff to bring a proposal that would end the emergency order, but keep the outdoor dining program. Restaurants would have to reapply for their dining permit and encroachment permit under the new ordinance. (folsom.ca.us)
