Here are the top stories today in Roseville:
- An article about a high school graduating class isn't unique this time of year. Congratulations are in order for all of the grads, everywhere! But this article about the graduating class of Placer County's Foresthill High School stands out in that it lists the entire graduating class. That's because there are only 40 of them, four of whom are valedictorians. The graduation was full of speeches about how grateful this class was to be a small, tight-knit group of go-getters. (Gold Country Media)
- The Placer County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved $445,000 for development at Marriott Meadows Park. There is a master plan for the property to include picnic areas, a dog park, an open turf area, a pavilion area with a splash pad, restrooms, bocce ball courts and walking trails. According to this Auburn Journal article, Auburn Area Recreation and Parks District (ARD) Administrator Kahl Muscott "confirmed the total cost of the project is about $3.5 million, with other funding sources to include ARD reserve funds, proceeds from the sale of ARD’s Mt. Vernon property, a California State Parks Per Capita Grant and a California Statewide Park Grant." (Auburn Journal)
- What the heck is going on on Pacific Street in Rocklin? Well, you're about to get a roundabout. The city will replace the existing four-way traffic signal at the Rocklin Road and Pacific Street intersection with a two-lane roundabout. The project will also reconstruct other elements of the intersection, improve underground utilities and install new landscape and street lighting. (rocklin.ca.us)
- Did you see the smoke behind Woodcreek High School on Sunday? It was a fire that quickly spread in the dry grass. Firefighters were on scene quickly and the brought out all of their tools to aggressively fight this fire. The blaze caused limited damage. (Facebook)

Ten new parks are in the master plan for the next few years. This YouTube video will tell you not only about the wonderful parks in Roseville, but some of the other PRL services and offerings to take advantage of this summer.
- This is a neat virtual tour of the historic sites in Rocklin. Check out the video, or read about all 20 sites at this Rocklin Historical Tour link.
- Parking can be a challenge in downtown Auburn. Stop worrying about going early enough to drive around and find something close! Auburn On-Demand is a city provided ride-share service. Through an app you are able to request a pickup at a location and destination of your choice. Our bus will then pick you up and take you to your requested destination. So, park wherever you can find a place, then have Auburn On-Demand take you to the trailhead, pick you up after your hike and take you to lunch! Problem solved!
Thanks for following along and staying informed! I'll see you soon.
