🌱Rocklin Tree Lighting + Roseville & Rocklin Volunteers Needed

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Roseville.

(Patch Media)

Hey, neighbors! It's Jeri Karges, your host of the Roseville Daily — back in your inbox with all the most important things happening in town. Including updates on:

  • It's National Brush Day and Placer county wants you to remember to brush daily and use good oral hygiene!
  • Warn your kids that two female students were approached by an older man in an SUV, asking them if they needed a ride. They were smart and chose not to get in the vehicle.
  • Always wanted to learn archery? Me, too! There's a class in December you should check out.

Today's newsletter is sponsored by Tammy Piini of Brick Lane Real Estate

Has the real estate market in the Roseville area changed? Yes. But probably not how you think.

If you listen to some gloomy types, you might think the current real estate market in our area is in free fall. Not exactly.

  • 25% of sales last month were above the original listing price
  • 43% sales in August had more than one offer
  • Despite longer sales cycles, inventory is actually down
  • The median sale price is down 7% from near-historic highs

Whether buying, selling or investing, in a changing market you need a Realtor with enough local knowledge to turn data into insights that create value for you.

Here are the top stories in Roseville today:

  1. After you're done wrapping up Thanksgiving and eating the last of the leftovers, head over to Rocklin on December 3 to kick off the Christmas season right. They're having their tree lighting in Quarry Park that night. You can enjoy a holiday market and some scrumptious food and your kids can hang out with St. Nick and Mrs. Claus. (Roseville Today)
  2. There's an amazing organization in Auburn called Placer Reset that is helping soldiers and first responders deal with the aftermath of their jobs, including overcoming PTSD. The founder, Donna Arz, has a talent for helping these folks, and for finding others with the same passion. Other organizations have helped the "forgotten soldiers" for a while, but Arz had the idea to open the program to first responders as well. People in the community have helped with funding this great idea, including 100+ Women Who Care Placer County and Lyons Realty in Roseville. They are changing lives. (Gold Country Media)
  3. Today is National Brush Day and Placer County wants you to celebrate by adopting healthy dental practices. Combining the Halloween theme with education about dental health, the program encourages kids to "brush their fangs" for two minutes, twice a day, every day. After all of that Halloween candy, it seems like a good idea to me, and to dentists everywhere! Visit Placer County’s Oral Health Program website or Smile, California for more information. (placer.ca.us)
  4. In neighboring El Dorado County there have been two reports of young, female students being approached by an older male in a white SUV. In both cases, the young ladies had the presence of mind not to get into his car, but the El Dorado Sheriff wants everyone to take extra precautions. Just because he hit in El Dorado County doesn't mean he can't drive over the county line to Placer. "Law enforcement is asking the public to contact Det. Brian Harris at harrisb@edso.org or to call the Sheriff’s Office dispatch at (530) 621-6600 with any information regarding the incidents or any similar activities not reported yet." (Village Life)
  5. "Searching for full- or part-time work in and near Roseville? These local proprietors are looking for help." (Roseville Patch)

Today in Roseville:

  • Kids eat free at University of Beer in Roseville and Rocklin. (11:00 AM)
  • Red Bus Brewing is hosting Books on Tap. This month's book is The Maid. (6:00 PM)
  • Paint a "Tree of Fire" at Chicago Fire Pizza at the Palladio in Folsom. (6:30 PM)

From my notebook:

  • "Registration for both the 9:30 and 10:30am Storytime sessions at each Roseville Public Library location will be required beginning this November. Registration for all weekly Storytime sessions opens each Monday at 8am." (Roseville Public Library via Facebook)
  • "Learn archery fundamentals or improve your archery skills on a variety of targets" at Maya Bow Club on December 17. "Certified instructors work with you according to your skill level. For ages 7 years old and up."
  • Trail Keepers and the SWRA Grand Opening Fun Run both need volunteers! If you're ready to get out there and help your community and meet some like-minded individuals at the same time, these opportunities might be just what you are looking for!
