  1. Sierra College professor Gary Noy's new book, Nature’s Mountain Mansion, presents the history of Yosemite in the 19th century. In it, he brings together eyewitness accounts, government documents and selections of historical fiction. Noy's previous works also covered the history of the region, including Sierra Stories: Tales of Dreamers, Schemers, Bigots and Rogues, which received the National Gold Medal for Best Regional Nonfiction at the Next Generation Indie Book Awards in 2016.   2. Soon, you will get to see Roseville's revenue and spending online through Open Budget, a portal that allows you to see all of the details. "It will give our residents a better understanding of the City’s revenues and spending in a user-friendly, interactive and informative way,” said Dominick Casey, Roseville City Manager. The data will be updated quarterly. (Roseville Today)
  3. The City of Roseville put a strategic plan in place as its technology roadmap. The plan lays out a five-year framework for how technology will be utilized for efficient growth and maintenance of the city. “Technology is ingrained in our organization and city like never before - from vital public safety communications to robust public engagement to the reliable operation of our utilities to the key backbone functions of our financial team," said Dominick Casey, Roseville City Manager.   4. Roseville Police is asking for your help, after several incidents of youths loitering in parking lots after school and acting in troubling or menacing fashion. At least one incident resulted in the arrest of a juvenile for allegedly brandishing a weapon. The RPD wants "parents to know what their students are doing after school, and who they hang out with," and suggests activities with "more structure and supervision after school." The Boys and Girls Club and the Roseville Police Activities League (www.rosevillepal.com) have after-school programs that the police suggest.   5. Our next-door neighbor, Rocklin, has some robust growth plans. College Park will be "a proposed private sector development featuring parks, open space and trails surrounded by residential and mixed-use villages, retail, office, medical, institutional, and residential uses." The city planning commission will hold a public meeting on November 15 to discuss the project and review the Environmental Impact Report (EIR). The public is invited to attend. (rocklin.ca.us)
