  1. One local business is turning tragedy into a way to help the community. All 17 of Roseville's Flour Dust Pizza Company's windows were smashed last weekend. They were special windows with graphic art and tinting on the outside. The owner, while devastated, said insurance will help replace the windows, but the community continues to reach out to try to help the businessman. He has taken that as an opportunity. "If you are feeling compelled to help, here are some places to donate that always need assistance with their great work: Foster Hope Sacramento — they are going to be providing back-to-school supplies for foster children and their families who need support. California Fire Foundation — with wildfire season around the corner, let’s help them get prepared to help families who will need it," wrote Flour Dust Pizza Company in a Facebook post. We love our Roseville business community! (ABC10.com KXTV)
  2. If you live in a home with a firearm, Roseville PD urges you to know the law and learn how to store and transport your gun safely. They offer some safety tips in this article from Roseville today. Don't be one of the 54% of gun owners who don’t lock all their guns safely. (Roseville Today)
  3. Are you interested in running for one of the more than 180 positions available on local councils, boards and districts, but aren't sure how? You're not alone. The Placer County Elections Office has scheduled a candidate workshop Saturday, July 23, at 10 a.m. to take the mystery out of running for office. Prospective candidates and their supporters are encouraged to attend, and so is the general public. I think it will be a great opportunity to learn about our civic system! I hope you'll join me there. The candidate filing period for the General Election in November is July 18-Aug. 12. (Gold Country Media)
  4. To better serve emergency and critical city operations, the City of Roseville is planning to build a new radio communications tower in east Roseville. A city-owned vacant parcel at 2001 Strauch Drive was identified to best provide public safety-grade radio coverage throughout east Roseville. Environmental clearance is underway in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act. Funding for this project is $1.5 million dollars and provided by designated capital improvement project funding. See the details and timelines at this link from the City of Roseville. 5. If you make it over to El Dorado Hills, you might notice that the neon sign for the Purple Place has been taken down. According to their Facebook page: "Unfortunately, negotiations with our landlord have been difficult and the terms she has proposed have not been reasonable. ... We remain hopeful that we will be able to come to terms but, while negotiations continue, we decided it was prudent to remove the Purple Place neon sign and place it in storage for safekeeping." Neighbors are up in arms, trying to save the iconic gathering place. For now, the establishment is still open normal hours and is working diligently to find a solution with their landlord. (ABC10)

  • The Roseville Police Department reminds you that in 2020, Congress designated the new 988 dialing code to operate through the existing National Suicide Prevention Lifeline’s network of over 200 locally operated and funded crisis centers across the country. On July 16, the U.S. transitioned to using the 988-dialing code. It is a direct connection to compassionate, accessible care and support for anyone experiencing mental health-related distress. People can also dial 988 if they are worried about a loved one who may need crisis support. (City of Roseville, California Police Department via Facebook)
  • Nearly 53% of child vehicular heatstroke deaths were because a caregiver forgot the child. Don’t let being out of your routine turn deadly. If someone else is taking your child to daycare or school, call to make sure they arrived safely. (City of Roseville, California Police Department via Facebook)
  • Are you curious as to the story of the leather helmet which is still widely used by firefighters after hundreds of years? The Roseville Firefighters Local 1592 has the whole story. Fascinating! (Roseville Firefighters Local 1592 via Facebook)
