- Four separate fires along Auburn Folsom Rd. had fire fighters scrambling yesterday around noon. Crews from Cal Fire, Placer County Fire, Auburn City Fire Dept., and the Auburn Police were on the scene with helicopter support. Auburn Folsom Rd. was closed between Indian Hill Rd. and Powerhouse Rd. for about an hour, and an evacuation order was in effect for one area where structures were threatened. The blazes burned under 2 acres each and, according to Auburn Fire Battalion Chief Robert Zaucha, appeared to be related. (YubaNet)
- Congratulations to Michelle Bertolino, Director at Roseville Electric Utility, who received the James D. Donovan Individual Achievement Award during the American Public Power Associations's National Conference in Orlando, Florida. The award honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the electric utility industry and to public power. - Scam phone calls are nothing new to just about anyone who uses a phone. Some of the scammers show remarkable skill in making their calls look legitimate. A recent report from a Lincoln resident to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office detailed one such scam that resulted in a $45,500 financial loss for the victim. The caller claimed to be from the FBI, demanding information and gift card numbers to clear the victim of a phony charge. Check out some tips from our local FBI office to avoid being taken in by phone scams. (FBISac)
- Even the most even-tempered pets can become spooked by fireworks this time of year. The Placer SPCA is seeing about 20 pets brought in each day this week due to panic brought on by firework noise. Keep Fido and Fluffy safe at home this 4th of July with these tips from the SPCA. (KCRASac)

About me: My name is Kelly Mays Risse, and I have lived in Roseville just about all my life. I graduated from Roseville High School majored in Journalism at CSU Sacramento. If you recognize me, it may be from St. Clare Church, where I worked the past 10 years. Or maybe from the myriad activities my husband and I have been part of while raising our three boys here in the 'Ville. I have watched Roseville grow from a cheerful little railroad town to a large and diverse city. I love where we live, from the hiking trails to the hip new restaurants, and the people who live here. I am excited to bring the highlights to you in the Roseville Daily!
