Roseville firefighters raised more than $26,000 during their . Off-duty Roseville firefighters and Sierra College fire technology students collected donations April 14 and 15 at the intersection of Douglas and Sierra College boulevards and raised a total of $26,050.57 during the two-day event. The money raised will benefit the Firefighters Burn Institute and will be used to support burn prevention and recovery programs in Northern and Central California. Programs include a Kids Camp for youth burn survivors, Little Heroes Preschool Burn Camp, and other burn programs funded by the Firefighters Burn Institute.  Similar boot drives were held simultaneously throughout the nation. "We couldn't raise these funds without the support of our community," said event coordinator Roseville Fire Captain Matt Picchi. "We are grateful that the community continues to support our boot drives. We can't thank them enough." Senate bill 582 allows California firefighters the right to engage in a charitable solicitation on a public roadway to raise money to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association, local burn institutes and other causes utilizing "Fill the Boot" programs.
