- A fire that started in a detached garage in Roseville Heights damaged three structures Friday evening. Firefighters were able to knock down the blaze quickly, resulting in minimal damage to the adjacent properties. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. (Gold Country Media)
- A judge has ruled that Folsom Mayor Kerri Howell can remain on the ballot for City Council despite allegedly having had someone else collect signatures for her candidacy. The City of Folsom brought the case to court. The judge ruled that the city does not have standing to bring the case. Only voters can bring the case against the Mayor. “If Howell wins the District 5 seat in Tuesday’s election, a voter could file a legal action to challenge her victory and campaign,” according to the ruling. - The Roseville City Council has approved spending for a real time video wall for the Roseville Police Department to help improve efficiency and safety. It will provide critical information to officers on the street. "When a major crime happens in our City, the professionals in the real-time crime center immediately go to work, identifying suspects, vehicle information, and path of travel. This allows us to strategically use our resources and increase our ability to take criminals off the street." information officer Rob Baquera wrote in an email to ABC10. (ABC10.com KXTV)
- Yet another one to file under "dumb criminals." These guys pulled of a robbery at a bank on Douglas Blvd on Halloween. Their getaway car? A bright yellow Rav4 taxicab! Not surprisingly, soon after the information went out, the cab was spotted on I-80. The car was pulled over and the driver and passenger were detained. The piles of cash in the backseat were collected for return to the bank. (City of Roseville, California Police Department via Facebook)
