Here are the top three stories today in Roseville:
- Two men have been accused of stealing mail from a cluster mailbox in a Roseville neighborhood, according to police. Around 3:15 a.m. on Mar. 2, Joseph Lawrence and Jonathan Rude, both from Chico, allegedly drove up to a mailbox along Pebble Beach Court in a red pickup truck, broke into it, and stole its contents. A resident reported the pair, and police pulled them over later that morning to find four bags of mail in the truck bed. Lawrence and Rude, who had previously been booked at South Placer Jail, now face charges including violating parole, credit card theft, mail theft, possession of burglary tools, and possession of a controlled substance. (Good Day Sacramento)
- Caltrans has announced that part of Miner's Ravine Multi-Use Trail in Roseville will remain closed to pedestrians and bicyclists through mid-May due to planned construction. The closed section of the trail is located near the I-80 westbound Atlantic Street overcrossing. According to the announcement, heavy construction equipment is being staged in the trail area, and any damaged parts of the trail will be repaired before it reopens for public use. (ABC10.com KXTV)
- The City of Roseville is now using acoustic leak detection to help "proactively identify leaks, audit, and repair them" across the city. Acoustic leak detection tools work by listening for water leaking underground and pinpointing the location of those leaks. In a press release, the City said these tools will help Roseville become more efficient and accurate in detecting leaks and performing water loss audits, which is required by state agencies as a water utility provider.
