Here are the top stories in Roseville today:

  1. Just before 9:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, a Roseville police officer was involved in a traffic collision involving one other vehicle. The officer was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The incident happened in the area of Northbound Foothills Blvd. between Junction Blvd. and McAnally Drive. No other injuries were reported. (Facebook.com)
  2. The Sierra College art department has no full-time faculty, but they do have one part-time artist, Serena Cole, and one tech support guy named Matt Gottschalk, who are working to ensure the public knows the great resources offered by the department. The Nevada County campus will soon host events to get the word out, thanks to this dynamic duo. Their first foray is a first-time appearance of the college’s art department on the Open Studios art tour, presented by Center for the Arts on the weekends of October 8-9, and 15-16. “Serena came up with the idea to be on the tour; why haven’t we been doing this all along?” said Gottschalk. “The Sierra College Foundation was super supportive, everyone loved the idea. We’ll be #24 in the tour catalog.” There are more offerings coming up, as well, so go out and support Sierra College, support the arts and support these two who are making a difference in our community! (The Union)
  3. Roseville Police officers arrested Peter Adamski, 42, of Hayward, on Friday for allegedly using an ATM-skimming card device to gain access to victims' bank card information. Police responded to a suspect acting suspiciously at a bank lobby at the 4000 block of Foothills Boulevard on Thursday. They did not find anything out of the ordinary, but responded again on Friday to a similar call. They found Adamski about a block away and when they searched his vehicle, they found the card-skimming device. They found another one in the bank ATM. Adamski was arrested on charges of burglary, computer and credit card fraud and other related charges, according to police. (KTXL FOX 40 Sacramento)
  4. Roseville resident Michael Green was finally sentenced last week in the 1985 slaying of El Dorado Hills journalist Jane Anker Hylton. Another man, Ricky Davis, was originally convicted and sentenced for her murder, but DNA evidence processed in 2020 revealed that Davis was not the killer. According to Gold Country Media: "After being released, Davis filed an $18-million lawsuit against El Dorado County for his wrongful conviction." (Gold Country Media)
  5. Folsom's getting new meters, water service pipelines and improved existing infrastructure starting this week, as the Ashland Water Rehabilitation Project No. 2 gets underway. That's the good news. The bad news is that you can expect traffic delays if you travel along Baldwin Dam Road. The project is expected to last through February of next year. (ABC10.com KXTV)
