  1. On August 11, over 50 resource providers will be participating in a Senior Resource Fair called Placer PROTECT at the Maidu Community Center. You can participate in a free clinic, a free paper-shredding and even get free technical help. “These resources are truly a culmination of all the hard work of our Placer PROTECT partners to support the senior residents of our county,” said Deputy District Attorney and Placer PROTECT coordinator Shannon Quigley. “The partnership and resources available in our county are unmatched and a wonderful example of why Placer County is such an amazing place to work, live and retire.” (Roseville Today)
  2. What would you do with $1.5 million? Thunder Valley winner Roberto Arcueno gets to contemplate exactly that. He won the progressive jackpot on Friday August 5 in the amount of $1,538,738.97! “We are thrilled that Mr. Arcueno, who is one of our Platinum guests, hit such a major jackpot,” said Dawn Clayton, Thunder Valley Casino Resort General Manager. “Every slot machine in the casino is wired into our exciting Thunder Strike Jackpot, which can strike on any slot at any time.   3. On June 21 Roseville Police Department officials responded to reports of a drug overdose death involving a 16-year-old girl in Roseville. Roseville Police encourage anyone with additional information on the girl's whereabouts on the days leading up to her death to call the tip line at (916) 746-1059. (ABC10.com KXTV)
  4. Roseville has a slew of upcoming blood drives, so why not save a life? Vitalant in Roseville hosts blood drives in south Placer County every two or three months. On Aug. 16, there will be a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 10030 Foothills Blvd., Roseville. In addition, there will also be two more blood drives in Roseville, both on Aug. 17. The first drive benefits Kaiser Permanente patients in Roseville at 1600 Eureka Road from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.. The second drive will be at 1161 Galleria Blvd. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The last blood drive in Roseville will be from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Aug. 24 at 8000 Foothills Blvd. There will also be several in surrounding cities, so there's bound to be one that's convenient for you.   5. After receiving accreditations for a graduate medical education program in two specialties, Sutter Roseville Medical Center is now officially a teaching hospital. In June the hospital welcomed the first group of physicians for their residency. Congratulations Sutter Roseville and good luck to the first class of residents! (Style Magazine)

  • Attention RCSD families! Due to a new state law, school day start times will change this school year. That means that RCSD elementary schools will begin between 7:40 and 7:45 a.m. and middle schools will begin at 8:05 a.m. A full bell schedule is available here:

  • Join the Roseville Historical Society on Saturday, August 13 for an hour-long walking tour around Old Town Roseville, led by one of its Roseville history buffs!
