Here are the top five stories in Roseville today:

  1. Construction has started on a new affordable housing complex in Rocklin called Terracina at Whitney Ranch. It will be located between University Avenue and Wildcat Boulevard in the Whitney Ranch neighborhood and will provide affordable one- to three-bedroom apartments. “Terracina at Whitney Ranch is an important addition to our community, providing working families a new opportunity to live in Rocklin at more affordable rental rates,” said Rocklin Mayor Bill Halldin. “I’m hopeful that many young people who have grown up in town will have a chance to remain here with housing opportunities like Terracina.” (Roseville Today)
  2. According to the annual U-Haul Growth Index report, Roseville ranks as one of the nation’s top destinations to move to. It ranked last year, too, but has moved from 11th place last year to 8th place this year. San Diego is the only other California destination to rank in the Top 25. (Roseville Today)
  3. Businesses in the Roseville area are looking to fill openings on their staff, and we've rounded up some of the best local job openings listed within the past week. Whether you're looking for full-time, part-time or temporary work, plenty of employers in the Roseville area are hiring. (Roseville Patch)
  4. Weston Turner, 19, is a former Granite Bay resident who has just won a national hockey championship with the Brooks Bandits in Canada. Turner got his start at Skatetown Ice Arena in Roseville in April 2007. Turner's father Vern Turner, also started playing hockey at Skatetown in 2007 and now rosters on a team in the “age 50-plus” division as well as on a Bronze A team. (Gold Country Media)
  5. The Rocklin City Council has decided that Granite Lakes Estates, a subdivision located in southeast Rocklin, will not grow any larger until a bridge has been built over Secret Ravine Creek. According to their action, Tuesday, "the remaining 71 lots can’t be developed until the Monument Springs Drive bridge over Secret Ravine Creek has been built for another entrance to the neighborhood."
