1. If you're going to be away this holiday season, you can sign up for Roseville's Vacation House Check program and a volunteer will check up on your house from time to time while you are away. If anything suspicious is seen, they will alert the police. "The program is not meant to provide security to people's homes but serves as an extra precaution for those going out of town." 2. Daniellos Steakhouse and Speakeasy is about ready to open in Roseville! From the street it will look like a penny candy store, but behind a large refrigerator door, guests can access the bar area Wednesday through Saturday nights. You can use a phrase at the counter to unlock the access. "Upstairs, Daniellos will operate a tasting-menu-style steakhouse." It will be at 229 Vernon Street. Can't wait to check it out! 3. Placer County is offering free residential wood chipping through the end of the year. “Creating defensible space helps slow or stop the spread of wildfire and helps protect firefighters who may need to defend your home,” the Resource Conservation District release stated. 4. Woodcreek High’s Timberwolves basketball team showed Lincoln's Fighting Zebras who was boss with a 49-33 victory on Tuesday night. "The leading scorer of the night was Woodcreek High senior Austin Ito, who finished with 16 points." This was the first loss of the season for the Zebras. (Roseville Press Tribune)
5. Healthcare at the "New" Folsom Prison was deemed "inadequate" by the California Office of the Inspector General. The prison was gauged on 13 indicators, three of which came back "adequate" and 10 were rated "inadequate." Robin Hart, associate director of California Correctional Health Care Services, responded to the report by saying, in part, "Thank you for preparing the report. Your efforts have advanced our mutual objective of ensuring transparency and accountability in CCHCS operations." (ABC10.com KXTV)
