- An eighth grade student brought a homemade KKK hood to school as a prop for a Civil War and reconstruction era assignment. The hood was on display for a short time and a number of students and teachers were in full view of the replicated artifact. Newcastle Elementary School District Superintendent Denny Rush said what happened was inappropriate, but she added that it is now a teachable moment for the students and their teacher. "They had no bad intentions. They've been talked to. Their parents have been talked to," Rush said. "They wanted something that would grab peoples' attention and call their attention to the fact that there were bad things happening in our country." Rush also said that an elementary school was not the right place to display the hood, regardless of the students' intent to educate. (KCRA Sacramento)
- The Roseville annual drinking water quality test results are in. You are drinking the highest standard of water! The Roseville water met all state and federal quality standards. You can see the full report at this link. (Roseville Today)

The project will be financed by various federal, state, and local funding sources and private equity. (Roseville Today)
- This Rocklin businessman is in a world of hurt after he defrauded both a corporation and a federally-insured financial institution. Kevin Lee Co, 51, of Rocklin, pleaded guilty Friday to submitting false statements to a financial institution after earlier pleading guilty to wire fraud and money laundering for embezzling about $4.8 million from his former employer, Holt of California. While he was out on bail from the first charges, he applied for and received a PPP loan. However, he did not disclose his conviction for wire fraud on that application as he was required to do. Co is scheduled to be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Troy L. Nunley on Aug. 18. He faces a maximum of several decades in prison as well as some hefty fines. (Gold Country Media)
