Here are the top five stories in Roseville today:

  1. Businesses in the Roseville area are looking to fill openings on their staff, and we've rounded up some of the best local job openings listed within the past week. Looking for full-time or part-time work? Patch and ZipRecruiter have you covered, with our weekly list of new opportunities close to home. (Roseville Patch)
  2. The Roseville City School District welcomes you back for another exciting school year! Superintendent Derk Garcia has a message for you. "We like to use the saying 'Great things happen here!' By design, our District’s direction, focus and priorities are always student-focused and guided by our Board of Education goals. Our mission is to maximize learning for each and every one of our students." See what goals he has for the district this year in his message in this article from Roseville Today. (Roseville Today)
  3. Next time you're at a game between Oakmont and Placer High School, take a moment to listen to the announcer. It's Scott Gordon, an experienced broadcaster and sideline reporter who has spent time working in the NFL. He's the new announcer for Placer High! He has done stints as the color commentator for Nevada Wolf Pack football and working at Comcast SportsNet. In addition to Placer games, Gordon will call UC Davis home football games on ESPN+ this season. I know the most exciting part of the game won't be the announcer, but in the back of your mind, don't you think it's kinda cool to listen to the smooth voice of a seasoned pro? (Gold Country Media)
  4. The Roseville Police Department's August "911 Safety Newsletter" is out. Check it out to find out about senior scams and back to school safety among other things. And, my favorite part, you can meet all of the new Roseville Police Officers. Welcome to Roseville and thanks for what you do, guys! (911 Newsletter)
  5. There's a new business in town. Local chain LaziCow, is adding a location in Roseville (1850 Douglas Boulevard). It hand-churns ice cream! Yum! Along with ice cream, it also makes ramen, rice bowls, milk teas and more. For opening updates and more info, follow it on Instagram @lazicow.roseville. (Style Magazine)
