- 'Tis the season for seeing little faces light up with the joy of opening a new toy. You can help Santa make sure all our local children experience that joy by donating to Toys for Tots. And it's so easy - so many Roseville businesses and schools are taking part this year! Looking at the list in this article; I'm thinking you could toss your new, unwrapped toy in the air and it would just land in one of the designated Toys for Tots bins! But seriously, check out this list of convenient drop-off locations and maybe add a toy to your holiday shopping list this year. (Patch Staff)
- Imagine winning BIG on a slot machine and ... nothing. Dude, where's my payout! Thunder Valley Casino computers experienced a "connectivity issue" issue affecting phones, emails, point of sales and slot machines yesterday, according to spokesperson Doug Elmets. Luckily, winners could still be paid out the old fashioned way - by hand. There was no timeline for a resolution as of press time yesterday, but the casino remains open and operating. Just old style! (KCRA 3)
- The Placer County Advisory Redistricting Commission, after extensive review of maps sent in by county residents, have recommended three maps for the Placer County Board of Supervisors to consider at their November 30th meeting. The maps moving forward are Alternative A, Alternative C and a hybrid map that incorporates the "findings of the public." A fourth map is still being worked out and may be included in the final decision making. (Gold Country Media and Placer County)
- A group of model aircraft enthusiasts has been busy raising funds for a good cause while they enjoy taking their crafts to the skies. The Associated Modelers of Sacramento (AMOS) raised over $19,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) at a recent Jet Rally that attracted 400 modelers from as far away as Ohio. They will hand over the check to a WWP representative at 2:00pm on Monday, November 15th, at the club field, 4015 East Catlett Road, Lincoln (near Thunder Valley Casino Resort). The event is open to the public and will feature turbine jet, giant scale 3D aircraft and 3D helicopter demonstration flights. (Press Release)
