Here are the top three stories in Roseville today:

  1. On Thursday evening, parents and students crowded a Roseville school district board meeting to protest the statewide mask mandate. Protestors at Dry Creek Joint Elementary School are against the mandate, which remains in effect for students and adults in school settings at least until Feb. 28, at which point Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly said he would "reassess the data and conditions." Although some parents at the meeting argued that should be their choice whether their children wear a mask to school, one board member told ABC10 the district has "no plans of defying the state." (ABC10.com KXTV)
  2. Earlier this week, Roseville City Council approved plans for a $4.3 million zero-emissions bus depot at Hilltop Circle. The depot would replace the lawn area in the center of the corporation yard and include 30 bus stalls, nine of which would be designated for charging the electric buses the City approved over the summer. In a statement, Roseville Transit said moving towards a fleet of all-electric vehicles "will lower ongoing fuel and maintenance costs." (ABC10.com KXTV)
  3. The third person killed in Wednesday's head-on crash in Folsom has been identified as 30-year-old Jacob Slaugh, of Roseville. Slaugh was identified Friday by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office after his body was recovered from the accident scene along Folsom Lake Crossing. One of the vehicles involved reportedly crossed into a double yellow line, causing the head-on collision between Slaugh's car and that of Steve and Nancy Morris from El Dorado County.
