Here are the top stories today in Roseville:
- Rocklin's Sunset Whitney Recreation Area is expanding, with more trails for you! For the grand opening of the new trails, a 2.2-mile fun run will be held after the ribbon cutting on December 3. So lace up your sneaks and hit the trails! "Register by November 21 to guarantee your commemorative shirt!" (Roseville Today)
- Placer County's electorate continues to shift. With the growth of the county, especially its largest city, Roseville, new people and new perspectives are changing the demographic. "As the population continues to grow, the move to a more pluralistic county is projected to tip the balance of power within a generation should trends continue." The biggest change, according to voter registration data, is in the people who do not wish to register as either Republican or Democrat. (Roseville Today)
- The Roseville City Council previously allocated $1 million in ARPA funds to the Roseville Grants Advisory Commission for distribution over the next three years. On November 3, the council approved the first tranche of awards, which total $350,000. The highest award went to HomeStart Playground Project for $56,000. You can see all of the award recipients at this link from the city: (roseville.ca.us)
- The Placer County District Attorney won't file charges against former county Chief Executive Officer Todd Leopold in the March 19 crash that killed 18-year-old Anthony Williams. The DA found there was not sufficient evidence "to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that a crime occurred.” The Rocklin Police Department came to a similar conclusion in its investigation, which concluded last May. (Sacramento Bee via MSN)
- Joshua Daniel Allen King has entered a not-guilty plea in the case involving a Sun City resident who was allegedly robbed at knifepoint when someone knocked on their door requesting to retrieve a ball from the backyard. King is being held without bail at the Placer County Jail. "Detectives are requesting the public contact the Lincoln Police Department at 916-645-4040 if they had contact with King or saw him in Lincoln on Oct. 29. The incident remains under investigation."
