Silent Alarm Leads to Arrest of Suspected Car Burglar
Roseville Police arrested Anthony Herrera Dec. 19 on suspicion of a car burglary in the Vernon Street parking garage.

A silent alarm alerted Roseville Police to a car burglary in the Vernon Street parking garage around 5:30 a.m. Dec. 19. The alert led to the arrest of a 34-year-old suspected of breaking into a car.
When Roseville Police officers arrived in the parking garage in the 400 blockof Vernon Street, they found that someone had broken out the window of a car, and taken video games and other items. The officers soon located a suspect on foot nearby, and they recovered the stolen items.
Anthony Herrera, 34, with no reported permanent address, was arrested on suspicion of burglary, according to Roseville Police, He is being held in the Placer County Jail on $70,000 bail.
The Roseville Police Department uses several tactics to reduce vehicle burglaries including video surveillance, silent alarms and traceable "bait" property deployed in areas where vehicle burglars are known to operate.

Roseville Police also urge the public to not be "sitting ducks" for vehicle burglars. Always roll up all windows, lock your car and remove all valuable property; and remember that at home, the safest place to park your car is inside your locked garage.
