- A 72-year-old Roseville woman may have been taken against her will by her nephew, police say. Carmen Rios lives with her nephew Michael Calderon and several others in a house along the 100 block of Coloma Way in Roseville. The two left together at 3 a.m. which officials consider "abnormal." They may be headed toward Southern California in a brown 2004 Honda CRV with California license plate "5GCW729." Police are asking for your help. If you see Rios, Calderon or the Honda, call 911. - Lazi Cow bubble tea shop is now open in Roseville serving bubble tea, ice cream and snacks. It even has build your own boba! I love that idea because it's always too sweet for me, but with this option, I can choose my own sweetness level. "We decided to open a location in Roseville in hopes of serving a wider range of customers within the Sacramento area. As a family-oriented business, we are (udder-ly) happy and passionate about serving bubble tea, snacks and ice cream," Lazi Cow wrote in an email to ABC10. Stop by for some tea or maybe a Fruity Pebbles milkshake. (ABC10.com KXTV)
- I didn't even know we had a curling club in Roseville, but we do and it hosted a tournament over Labor Day Weekend. It turns out something really special happened at that tournament. One of the competing teams, Team McDonald, scored an eight-ender. "What is an eight-ender?" you ask? I asked the same thing. Apparently, it's like a perfect game of baseball or a hole-in-one. It's where a team scores 8 points in a single end, and it very rarely happens. It's so rare, in fact, that Team McDonald will now be listed in the American Curling Foundation & Museum. Eight-enders are so rare that USA Curling recognizes all teams that accomplish this feat with an eight-ender patch. Congrats to Team McDonald! (Roseville Today)
- Placer Community Foundation has established the Mosquito Fire Relief Fund. It is accepting donations to support local fire victims. “As the Mosquito Fire continues to grow and threaten the homes and welfare of our neighbors, we seek to raise significant funds that will go directly to the people impacted,” said Jessica Hubbard, PCF philanthropic services manager. Tax-deductible contributions to the Mosquito Fire Relief Fund can be made online at placercf.org/relief. Gifts by check are made payable to: Placer Community Foundation, with Mosquito Fire Relief Fund in the check memo. Mail to Placer Community Foundation, P.O. Box 9207, Auburn, CA 95604 (Gold Country Media)
- It's a little smoky out there, Roseville. Even though we're not in the path of the fire, there are still risks that we have to be content with, namely smoke and particulate matter at potentially dangerous levels. According to Roseville Today, "the size of particles is directly linked to their potential for causing health problems. Small particles less than 10 micrometers in diameter pose the greatest problems, because they can get deep into your lungs, and some may even get into your bloodstream." Exposure to such particles can affect both your lungs and your heart. So, how is the air quality today? Check it out at this link. (Roseville Today)
