- Rocklin PD presented its Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving (C.O.P.P.S) task force vision to the Rocklin City Council on January 24. "The mission of this unit is to reduce crime and address public concerns through a community-based, problem-solving approach that produces meaningful crime reduction and an enhanced quality of life." The task force can be reached through the Rocklin PD non-emergency number. (rocklin.ca.us)
- The Citrus Heights City Council voted 3-2 to use $80,000 of ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) funds for a Fourth of July fireworks show. Much like the council, the community is divided on that decision. Some question whether it's the right use of the recovery funds, which are meant to help communities recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. "The $80,000 will cover all event expenses from planning and closing roads to a musical performance and the firework show itself, according to City Manager Ashley Feeney." (ABC10.com KXTV)
- Lake Tahoe Basin may be poised to break snowfall records this winter! The UC Berkeley Central Sierra Snow Lab says that 175 inches of snow has fallen since the start of the month. “We’re at record territory for this time of the winter, not compared to the end of the biggest winters, but we’re definitely on the trajectory if the storms continue to register one of the biggest winters ever,” said Jeff Anderson, a hydrologist who monitors precipitation data for the USDA. (Mountain Democrat)
- "Alice in Wonderland" is coming to the Sutter Street Theater in Folsom. "Follow Alice down the rabbit hole in this exciting adventure full of strange and fantastic characters." The show started on January 28 and runs through February 26. Get your tickets at SutterStreetTheatre.com or call (916) 353-1001. (Village Life)
