Happy Tuesday, Roseville!
Welcome to a very special Thanksgiving Week edition of The Roseville Daily. This will be the only Daily you see in your inbox this week as we take this time to celebrate family, friends and being together during this Thanksgiving week. I am trusting you all not to create any headline news during this little break while I’m busy making the big feast (ok, really, it’s Mr. Risse who cooks around here). We’ve got a lot to cover, so …
Let’s get to it!

This week's weather:
I thought it would be difficult to do a week’s worth of weather in one go, but it looks like Mother Nature is going to be pretty even-tempered this week. Today, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday will be sunny while the rest of the days will be slightly cloudy, according to the forecast. Highs will be in the low 60s with overnight lows reaching the low to mid 40s all week. Winds should be barely noticeable at around 2-5 mph and humidity during the day is expected to be 56-64%.

Here are the top stories today in Roseville:
- Vincent Robles, the 34-year-old Sacramento man who tackled a referee at Roseville soccer game on November 17th, has been charged with misdemeanor battery committed against a sports official. Robles was seen in a video as he crossed the game field to tackle the 31-year-old referee after a call went against his son. The son had reportedly followed the ref off the field, prompting the ref to push the teen away before the tackle took place. Robles will be arraigned December 8th. (CBS 13)
- The swarm-like, smash-and-grab robberies in the Bay Area over last weekend have our Roseville Police thinking about their approach as we enter the holiday season. Higher theft rates are unfortunately part of the holidays in Roseville, prompting RPD to partner with Placer County Sheriffs and retail businesses like the Galleria to increase security in high traffic areas. Read on to see how you can help in their efforts. (KCRA 3)
- The City of Roseville wants to make it easier for you to buy and own an electric vehicle. The Roseville Daily referenced an informational webinar offered by the city last week, but there are also rebates, an "ambassador" program and charging station tools to make your ecologically conscientious travels smoother. So Kermit was wrong - it is easy being green! Check out the details in this release. (Press Release)
- The rising costs of food are hitting everyone - area food banks included. While more families than ever are in need of food assistance due to inflation, COVID and wildfire recovery, supply chain problems are making it difficult for the banks to get some staples. To make the most of the holiday season, which usually sees a rise in donations, food banks are asking donors to consider cash instead of food. Cash in hand goes further as the banks use it to buy staple items in bulk. Another need: volunteers. Not all the food bank volunteers have returned after the pandemic shutdown. (ABC 10)
- Looking to win the Lottery, literally? Be sure you don’t get scammed while you chase that pot of gold. The California State Lottery is warning players and retailers about the risk of using online and app-based lottery ticket resellers and delivery services. While they may offer convenience, there is no oversite of these third-party entities and the delivery services are actually illegal in California. Play it safe by getting your lottery tickets at an official location. (FOX 40)
