Good morning, people of Roseville!

It's me again, Kelly Risse, bringing you the news you need to know (and random tidbits you can use to impress your friends at parties *wink*).

First, today's weather:

I'm looking at the long-term forecast, friends, and do you know what I see? No more 90+ temps as far as the eye can see! Today's expected high is a glorious 83 degrees with an overnight low of 57. Winds should be light, in the 5-10 mph range and humidity is looking to be around 31% during the day.

Here are the top stories today in Roseville:

  1. Local casino and resort Thunder Valley is honoring over 30 of its employees with developmental disabilities as part of National Disability Employment Awareness Month in October. These valued employees, hired through a partnership with Pride Industries, have proven to be instrumental in the laundry and housekeeping departments of the resort. (Roseville Today)
  2. Long-time Roseville residents will remember the livestock auctions that made Denio's Farmers Market & Swap Meet (then called Denio's Farmers Market & Auction) famous. Did you know that you can once again experience the thrill of an old-school style auction, complete with professional caller, and score some sweet merchandise at bargain prices at Denio's? TMC Auction runs the live auctions on the third Saturday of every month featuring vehicles, heavy machinery, tools and home improvement items - some sold in palette-wrapped groupings. (edit: the video claims the auctions happen on third Sundays; the event has since changed to third Saturdays) (FOX 40)
  3. If you are one of the people who has been reveling in the return of live entertainment since the pandemic shutdown lifted (I sure have!), you will now need proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test to attend events put on by Live Nation. The mega-promoter announced the new requirements yesterday, along with new rules for eventgoers 12 and under. Live Nation venues frequented by Rosevillians include Toyota Amphitheater in Wheatland, Ace of Spades and Punch Line in Sacramento, The Fillmore and The Masonic in San Francisco and Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View. (KCRA 3)
  4. Sacramento reached a unfortunate milestone this week, stressing the need for continued water conservation. It has been over six months since the city has had any measurable rain, according to Cory Mueller with the National Weather Service. The last time Sac Town had a dry spell this long was in 1880. But hope is on the horizon with a chance of rain forecast for later this week. (CBS Sacramento)
  5. Though slow in arriving, cold weather is coming. If you were one of the energy saving minded people who took advantage of the great conservation tips on the helpful City of Roseville Utility webpage during the Summer months, there’s also a section to help you get through the Winter months. Being “energy smart” doesn’t have to mean being uncomfortable. Seriously, check out this page! It even includes tips for when you go on vacation. (City of Roseville Utility)
