Here are the top five stories in Roseville today:
- From the city of Roseville Police Department: "We’re aware of an inappropriate incident that took place on Thursday at Roseville High School between a student and a substitute teacher. The investigation is ongoing, at the conclusion we’ll forward our findings to the Placer County District Attorney’s Office. At this time, an arrest has not been made. We will continue to coordinate with the Roseville Joint Union High School District on this incident.
The intent of this message is to reassure the community that we have knowledge of the incident and will continue to partner with RJUHSD to ensure all students feel safe at school." (City of Roseville, California Police Department via Facebook) - Were you headed out to the foothills for WINEcation? Due to the smoke from the Mosquito Fire, the event has been rescheduled. The new dates are October 22 and 23. You'll still find all of the fun tastings, food pairings and happenings you were expecting. You'll just have to delay that gratification for a couple of weeks. (Roseville Today)
- SPLASH 2022 at the Roseville Aquatic Center was a huge success! The event was sold out, so I wasn't there, but from the looks of the pictures at this link, everyone had a splashing good time! The event was put on by the Roseville Area Chamber of Commerce and the city of Roseville and featured all kinds of wine, beer, food and fun. A portion of the proceeds went to Roseville Parks, Recreation and Libraries at-risk youth programs. Drum roll, please. According to Gold Country Media "SPLASH! 2022 Best Of Winners were Best Drink: Kitchen 747, Best Food: Bounty Hunters Grind & Grill. Best Dessert: The Nugget and Kelli’s Cookies. Best Decor: Federation Brewing." (Gold Country Media)
- This week, the Rocklin Police Department presented a report on for crimes in Rocklin and other performance metrics from January 1, 2022 – July 31, 2022 to the Rocklin City Council. Rocklin continues to be one of the safest cities in California, according to the report. "The crime rate was flat when compared to the same time period for 2021, at 9.2 crimes per 1,000 residents. Violent crime decreased by 10% (-6) while property crime increased by 2%, attributed in part to increases in total larceny (+26), including theft from vehicles. Catalytic converter thefts, which are included in the larceny statistics, continue to be an issue in Rocklin and the surrounding region." (rocklin.ca.us)
- Scott Alvord shows you the plan for temporary crossing improvements in the Hayden/Blue Oaks Intersection on his Facebook page. He said "along with two crossing guards, these enhancements will help [ensure] the safety level at that location for students until the city is able to fully expand that intersection and install traffic lights."
