Here are the top stories in Roseville today:
- Our Roseville City Council approved a purchase of 20 acres in West Roseville for a new sports complex at its meeting this week. The land will become the 81st park in our fair city and be a destination location for local and travel sports events. The $5,227,200 spent on the parcel on Philip Road, Brookstone Drive and Durango Way is expected to not only enhance its neighborhood, but also generate revenue as it attracts out-of-town visitors. (Gold Country Media)
- Pink Crush sounds like a colorful, refreshing cocktail, but it's really a sledgehammer of a Roseville Girls’ Under 11 soccer team. These pint-sized powerhouses did indeed "crush" the competition, finishing their season undefeated. Their coach had some great things to say about his players in this article. (Roseville Press Tribune)
- There’s good news on the employment front in Roseville, and the nation as a whole, according to the latest numbers from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The unemployment rate in the Roseville area improved from August to September and is actually lower than it was pre-pandemic. Placer County’s unemployment rate dropped from 5.1 percent in August to 4.3 in September, a huge improvement over September 2020 when it was at 7.2. The U.S. added 531,000 jobs to the economy in October, helping its unemployment rate drop from 4.8 percent to 4.6. (Patch.com)
- A family in Citrus Height is getting national recognition for their merry and BRIGHT Christmas lights on the television show, "The Great Christmas Light Fight." Mark S. Allen was on the scene to talk to the family. Check out this amazing house! (ABC10.com KXTV)
- Surf's up, dudes and dudettes! Like, way up. The King Tides, a natural phenomenon caused by the strong gravitational pull that occurs when the Earth and sun align, have arrive on the California coast. Cosmic, right? While cities like San Francisco are bracing for some localized flooding and beaches are posting warnings about the unusually high and volatile waves, surfers and tide-poolers are rejoicing in the higher, and lower, than normal tides. Gnarly. (KRON 4)
