First, today's weather:

Here are the top stories in Roseville today:
- The Tommy Apostolos Fund, one of Roseville’s biggest and best-known charitable organizations, is having its big shopping spree days on December 4th and 11th. Five hundred needy children will have an army of volunteers shopping for them at Kohl’s, outfitting them with any clothing they need for the winter months. Money raised by the Fund, a generous discount from Kohl’s and regular Roseville folks donating an hour or two of time each make it all possible. As of yesterday, there were still five open volunteer time slots for 6:00 am-7:00 am on December 11th. It’s easy, it’s fun and you will leave with a heart full of community cheer, so let’s get those last spots filled! (Facebook Event and Roseville Today)
- The much anticipated Amy’s Drive-Thru is finally opening today! The vegetarian, health conscious fare would seem a strange fit for a delivery system usually reserved for much maligned “fast food,” but it is a welcome sight for people looking for a convenient healthy food option. Amy’s is located in the Galleria parking lot. (KCRA 3)
- It’s been out of sight and out of mind with the cooler weather, but California’s dire drought is still very much a reality. And that reality was brought back into the spotlight yesterday as the Department of Water Resources issued a 0% water allocation to the state water agencies serving 27 million residents and 750,000 acres of farmland. To put that into perspective, last year, one of the driest on record for the state, water agencies only got 5% of the water allocation they requested in December 2020. The 0% allocation essentially means districts will only receive water from the state at levels necessary for critical health and safety needs. (FOX 40)
- I’m still waiting for Roseville to get one of our own, but until then you can now purchase the Best of Sac 2021 Holiday Gift Box for that Sacramento fanatic on your gift list. The $75 box contains all the most popular local products and items from the past year, plus a one-year subscription to Sacramento Magazine. Proceeds from the boxes go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. (Sacramento Magazine)
- The first case of the omicron variant of COVID-19 in California was confirmed yesterday. I’m not sure we know much more about variant today that we didn’t know yesterday – which is precious little. But I thought I would just put this link to our California Department of Health’s statement here for you in case you want to do a deeper dive. (California Department of Health press release)
