We are expecting another Red Flag warning to be in effect today from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm because of wind and low humidity. Put off any trash burning or mowing until the warning is lifted.

Here are the top stories today in Roseville:

  1. Tonight, in a North/South showdown that rivals the Civil War (cue dramatic music), the San Francisco Giants take on the Los Angeles Dodgers in game five of the National League Division Series. The winner goes up against the Atlanta Braves on Saturday in a seven-game bid for the National League title and a trip to the World Series. Get the lowdown on tonight's game from the players and coaches here. (CBS 13)
  2. Sutter Roseville Medical Center (SRMC) will soon be teaching a new generation of surgeons and internists in a residency program set to launch in July 2022. Other specialties may be added at a later date as the program grows. Offering residencies should help SRMC attract more future physicians to our growing region, something that has been a challenge without post-grad opportunities for med students. 3. If you like giving money away, especially other people's money ... oh, that got your attention! Maybe I should clarify. If you would like to serve your community by joining the Grants Advisory Commission, applications are being accepted now through Friday, October 29th. The commitment involves meetings on the second Tuesday each month to review proposals and grant applications for the Citizens Benefit Fund and the R.E.A.C.H. Fund. Both of these grants award money to worthy causes and projects in Roseville each year. (City of Roseville)
  4. Most people think of Spring as the season for planting or re-landscaping, but the City Of Roseville wants you to know that you don't have wait to add beautiful low-water-use plants to your yard. Get some tips for Fall plantings that will be well established by the time the weather warms up in 2022 in Fall Into A Beautiful Water-Wise Landscape. (Press Release Desk)
  5. Woodcreek High School students have been lending their youthful exuberance to a good cause this month, raising money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation as part of their Homecoming 2021 festivities. Their goal is to raise $10,000 by tomorrow to grant the wish of a critically ill child in the Greater Sacramento area. The "wish" will be revealed at the varsity game.
