State Sues Whole Foods For Selling Products Containing Unregistered Pesticides

California is suing Whole Foods Market, claiming the company is selling pet products that contain pesticides not registered with the state.

California is suing Whole Foods Market, claiming that the health-conscious grocery store sells products with pesticides that aren't registered, according to The Huffington Post

These products are, (The Huffington Post reports):

  • Enviroman Bugs R Done insect spray
  • Natural Pine Pellets cat litter
  • Purely Botanical cat flea spray
  • Purely Botanical dog flea spray
The lawsuit was filed earlier this week in Sacramento, ABC reports

"Charlotte Fadipe, Assistant Director of Communications for the California Department of Pesticide Regulation, told The Huffington Post that to sell a pesticide product in stores, a company must register it with the state so that it can be tested and approved for safe use," according to The Huffington Post. "'We cannot say that this product is safe,'" she told The Huffington Post
