Here are the top stories today in Roseville:
- Saturday's show with Sammy Hagar was the very last one for the outdoor stage at Thunder Valley. Starting next year, performances will be inside at their new venue named, aptly, The Venue. It will be able to hold concerts year-round. Thunder Valley has announced that the season at the new venue will off with the Eagles on February 17, followed by Bruno Mars and Santana. Per Roseville Today "Once completed, The Venue will have 4,500 seats and will host musical acts, comedic performances, and sporting events all year long. It also will provide large event space for conferences and banquets." (Roseville Today)
- Local boy makes good! Granite Bay's very own Cole Moore won the Napa Auto Parts 150 at the All American Speedway in Roseville on Saturday night. It was the 25-year-old's first ARCA Menards Series West win, and it was in front of an appreciative hometown crowd. Congrats, Cole! (Gold Country Media)
- At their September 27 meeting, the Rocklin City Council approved the residential development at University Ave. and Sunset Blvd. The proposal consists of 181 single story apartment homes, 19 of which will be designated for low income housing, on twenty acres of land. Ten acres of the parcel will be held for commercial development. (roseville.ca.us)
- Placer County’s Free Tax Prep program (also known as VITA) is currently seeking volunteers for the 2023 tax season. Program volunteers will help lower income residents file taxes and maximize refunds. No prior experience is needed to be a volunteer. Training will be provided. “At a time when many working families are grappling with the impacts of inflation, this program is a needed boost to them and to our local economy,” said Human Services Director Greg Geisler. “For volunteers, it is also valuable experience with customer service and financials.” To learn more and register for upcoming virtual orientation sessions on Oct. 13 or 15, visit yourlocalunitedway.org/freetaxprep-volunteer. This is the fifth year the Roseville Police Department has participated, and the second year that we've allowed the public to purchase one of the patches. During the month of October, any member of the public can get a patch for a $15 (each) donation. Go to https://givebutter.com/Mr8Wn3 to get your pink patch. (City of Roseville, California Police Department via Facebook)
