It’s looking like another great day with an expected high of 90 degrees! The low tonight should be about 59 and winds will remain in the 5-15 mph zone. Humidity is staying around 40-50%. The long term forecast has us enjoying these relatively low temperatures for a few more days – yay!
Today’s Top 5 Stories You Need to Know About:
- Coworkers, patrons, and the owner at House of Oliver in Roseville are heartbroken at the fatal shooting of a beloved waitress at the restaurant late Monday afternoon. The suspect, who is now in custody, initially left the scene in a vehicle, closing down much of Douglas Blvd. during the search. He was arrested on suspicion of murder, corporal injury to a spouse, committing a felony while free on bail or release, and violating a restraining order. House of Oliver is closed until further notice. (SacBee)
- Motorists in West Roseville will soon enjoy some smoother travelling with four new flashing yellow lights slated to come online next week. You can look for these cheerful little innovations at four intersections along Junction Boulevard: Baseline Road, Country Club Drive, Revere Drive and Sawtell Road/Porter Drive. A flashing yellow light means you can cautiously enter the intersection to make your turn (yielding to oncoming traffic, pedestrians and bicycles) instead of waiting for a green turn light. (CoR)
- Three of the busiest areas of Roseville are going to get a makeover and the City of Roseville wants your input! The Commercial Corridors Project will develop three specific plans to improve pedestrian walkways, public amenities, parking, public transit access and more for 1) Atlantic St., 2) Douglas and Harding Blvd., and 3) Douglas Blvd. and Sunrise Ave. Take the virtual walking tour, from the comfort of your own home or in person, and then tell the city what you’d like to see. But hurry, the window for input closes tomorrow! (CoRPW)
- Placer County will soon be the last place in the state to experience the exhilaration of the Blue Light Special. With the slated closings of the Lake Tahoe and Watsonville stores, Grass Valley will have the last Kmart location in California. What began as a five-and-dime in Tennessee in the late 1800s now has only a few dozen open locations left in the U.S. (SFGate)
- In yet another sign that the days of pandemic are waning, Starbucks brought back the use of personal reusable cups nationwide yesterday. The concept of the reusable personal cup is to reduce waste created by single use cups. Customers who use reusable cups will get a 10-cent discount on their drink. That adds up quickly for some of us. (FOX40)

About me
My name is Kelly Mays Risse, and I have lived in Roseville just about all my life. I graduated from Roseville High School majored in Journalism at CSU Sacramento. If you recognize me, it may be from St. Clare Church, where I worked the past 10 years. Or maybe from the myriad activities my husband and I have been part of while raising our three boys here. I have watched Roseville grow from a cheerful little railroad town to a large and diverse city. I love where we live, from the hiking trails to the hip new restaurants, and the people who live here. I am excited to bring the highlights to you!
