Here are the top five stories in Roseville today:
- The Johnson Ranch Sports Club in Roseville is preparing to open the largest pickleball facility in Northern California. “I’m most looking forward to meeting all of the Roseville people who play pickleball because I’m so used to having to drive out to Orangevale or Folsom to play,” Bryan Tan, 24, said. When the complex opens, Johnson Ranch will be offering a free Pickleball 101 class for the general public for a limited time. The Johnson Ranch Sports Club is located at 2600 Eureka Road, Roseville. - Crooked Lane Brewery in Auburn snagged a gold at “Olympics of Beer” for their Belgian Blonde Ale! The World Beer Cup proudly touts itself as” The Most Prestigious Beer Competition in the World.” It recently held the 2022 World Beer Cup in Minneapolis, Minnesota. - On May 12, Nathan Stewart of Roseville was sentenced to 13 years in the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation in a domestic violence case. “Domestic violence is taken very seriously in Placer County,” said the prosecuting deputy district attorney. “After suffering years of abuse, the victim had the courage to take the stand, relive her trauma, and face her abuser. It is because of her strength that our office was able to seek justice and stop the defendant from any further acts of violence.” (Roseville Today)
- Placer County Executive Officer Todd Leopold, the driver in the March 19 collision resulting in the pedestrian death of high school senior Anthony Williams on March 19 expressed his "profound sadness" in an email on Friday. "My words and emotions cannot adequately express my profound grief and sadness. I am heartbroken for the loss of this young man and extend my sincere condolences to Mr. Williams’ family, friends, and all of those impacted by this tragic accident," he said. The incident will now be reviewed by the Placer County DA's Office, as is the process when there is a fatality according to a news release from the county. (Roseville Press Tribune)
