Here are the top stories in Roseville today:

  1. Beautiful Royer Park is getting a new “big kid” play structure thanks to a combination of Prop 68 and City of Roseville funding. Citizens have been sending in ideas and designs, and now it’s time to vote on the options! Check out the nine design finalists, imagine you are a school-aged kid and make your selection. (City of Roseville Press Release)
  2. Gas prices are rising, and bringing out the scammers at local gas stations. An ARCO station in Antelope recently caught some no-goodniks on camera as they swapped nozzles on a pump. The swap ensures that the next unsuspecting customer will pay for the scammer’s gas. This trick is nothing new as our Roseville Police arrested someone here for the same trick in 2019. Be aware and check your nozzles at the pumps, my friends. (ABC 10)
  3. While we celebrate our veterans tomorrow, it's important to recognize the struggle that some of our nation’s defenders face after their service is over. Sacramento area resident and former NFL Director of Officiating Mike Pereira came up with a win/win solution to help the struggling veterans he met, and also fill a shortage of sports referees. The Battlefields to Ballfields program provides vets with a three-year scholarship that launches them into a career in sports officiating. Since 2017, the program has provided over 450 scholarships in 38 states, with some of the first applicants advancing to college sports level officiating. (Gold Country Media)
  4. Itching to get up into the Sierra and play in the snow? Be aware that Winter Parking rules went into effect on November 1st. Basically, parking on roadway shoulders is prohibited in snow areas, or where there are snow stakes planted, through May 1st for safety and snow removal reasons. Get the details straight from our friends at the Placer County Public Works Division. (Placer County News Release)
