WalMart Hiring for Holiday Season

If you’re planning on getting a job for the holiday season, time is running out. Black Friday is less than two weeks away--Nov. 27.

At the beginning of the holiday hiring season, Walmart had 60,000 jobs to fill. The giant retailer announced plans to add thousands of cashiers to keep lines moving during the annual buying frenzy.

Earlier this year, Walmart raised its minimum wage to $9 an hour. At the same time the retailer said it would also give employees more control over their schedules, improve training opportunities and give workers more chances for advancement. Accordingly, the holiday season includes adding department managers and offering extra hours to current employees.

If you’re looking beyond the holiday season, Walmart says that most of last year’s season employees stayed on with the company permanently.

Walmart has committed to hiring 250,000 veterans by 2020.
