But first, you need to know the weather:

Things are warming up today with a high of 92, but you can open your windows and cool down by tonight with a low of 56. The 41% humidity will make it feel a little sticky, but at least we will have light breezes at 5 to 10 mph. The UV index is high – so wear your sunscreen!

Today’s Top 5 Stories You Need to Know About:

  • Placer County is now in the orange tier of the state’s COVID blueprint! New sectors of business and entertainment can now open, and those already open can increase their indoor capacities. We can also expect new guidelines soon regarding face masks for vaccinated persons. See what’s changing at (C19CA).
  • In response to extremely dry conditions in California, the board of our Regional Water Authority has adopted a resolution that includes a call for residents to voluntarily conserve water by at least 10% to protect our drinking water sources and the Lower American River environment. (NCWA)
  • Our region is “Mooving Forward Together” with the return of the Placer County Fair! Save the dates for June 24-27 and be sure to get your applications in ASAP for vending, exhibiting, livestock showing and volunteering. Some of the deadlines are as early as Sunday, May 30! You can also pre-buy tickets to the fair and carnival wristbands. (PCF)
  • The City of Roseville Government is asking for your input on its plan to improve three commercial corridors in the city: Atlantic Street, Douglas/Harding Boulevards, and Douglas Boulevard/Sunrise Avenue. Go to (CoR) to provide comment, sign up for the outreach list or register for the Virtual Open House on June 9.
  • Appropriately for the Memorial Day weekend, our Placer County Sheriffs have announced a project to erect a memorial honoring their brave officers who were killed in the line of duty. The statue will be located in the rotunda at the Auburn Justice Center. Visit the Monument Campaign page to make a donation or sponsor this worthy project. (PCOS)

About me

My name is Kelly Mays Risse, and I have lived in Roseville just about all my life. I graduated from Roseville High School majored in Journalism at CSU Sacramento. If you recognize me, it may be from St. Clare Church, where I worked the past 10 years. Or maybe from the myriad activities my husband and I have been part of while raising our three boys here. I have watched Roseville grow from a cheerful little railroad town to a large and diverse city. I love where we live, from the hiking trails to the hip new restaurants, and the people who live here. I am excited to bring the highlights to you!
