Here are the top 5 stories today in Roseville:
- At its December 6 meeting, the Placer County Water Agency (PCWA) Board of Directors adopted the agency’s 2022 budget and the result is going to hit you in the pocketbook. The Board approved a rate adjustment to take effect January 1, 2022. Rate components will increase 4.7 percent, in line with the agency’s Water Division operating costs and the Consumer Price Index. The change is part of a multiyear adjustment approved by the Board of Directors in 2017. (Roseville Today)
- The 2021-22 basketball season has begun and the Roseville Tigers are off to a roaring start! They are 4-1 following an 86-35 win against Woodland in the Buck Bailey Tournament. The only loss was to Rodriguez in a game where the Tigers had 18 turnovers. This is Roseville’s first full season with Bobby Ritter as coach. The Tigers play Whitney on Monday and West Park on Tuesday at home. (Gold Country Media)
- Lincoln High School was on lockdown for several hours Thursday as police investigated a report of a firearm in the cafeteria. No firearm was recovered but police said a 16-year-old male was arrested for public intoxication and resisting a police officer. There were no injuries to any students or staff during the incident, according to police. (KCRA3)
- Looking for a fun place to take the whole family this Winter Break? The Maidu Museum has special holiday hours on December 28 through December 30. Get out of the house and start a whole new year of learning early. There are new, fun kid's activities and crafts every day. (Press Release Desk)
- Starting Dec. 13, the city of Rocklin will have a new top cop. The city announced Rustin Banks will take the post of chief starting Monday. Banks began his law enforcement career in January 2005 in Solano County. Recently, he acted as interim chief for the city of Rio Vista from 2019 - 2020. Welcome Chief Banks! You'll love it here! - Come out for the Holiday Open House at the Carnegie Museum (10:00 am-2:00 pm)
- Holiday shoppers will get some entertainment on Saturday morning as the Northern California Dance Conservatory presents “’Twas the Night Before Christmas” at the Galleria (level 1 near Louis Vuitton). Get to the area early as it is a first-come, first-served and standing room only performance. (11:00 am-11:30 am)
- Volunteers are gathering this morning to show community spirit and help clean up Lincoln Estates Park. Want to help? Bring your work gloves, or grab some disposable ones provided by the city and head on over. There is no time requirement; show up when you can and stay for long as you can. Children accompanied by an adult are welcome. (8:00 am-11:00 am)
- RSVP Choir is back for its first live concert since 2020. The Reconciliation Singers Voices of Peace will perform tonight at Pleasant Grove Community Church in Roseville as part of its Winter Concert Series. This amazing group of talented singers brings the gift of music to the community for free, while offering an opportunity to support a local charity. Guest artist Dear Darling will join RSVP tonight. - Get a taste of what Christmas must have been like for the Gold Rush era settlers at Christmas in Coloma this weekend. Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park will be decked out with warming fires, music, gift vendors, crafts, wreath making, hot food and beverages, Santa and more! Take a peek inside the historic houses and buildings where docents will share stories of Christmases long, long ago. There is a $10 per vehicle day use fee for the park. The house tour is $5 per person. (Saturday & Sunday, 10:00 am-4:00 pm)
- Two of the best things in life, pancakes and Santa Claus, are coming together to create the best imaginable morning ever at the Roseville Eagles Aerie at 210 Lincoln St. Bring everyone you know. And it’s free! (9:00 am-noon)
