Here are the top stories in Roseville today:

  1. Aspiring young writers and mystery lovers can get inspiration and enjoy a scary good time on the Spooky Kids Book Tour happening Sunday, November 4th in Folsom. Local author Lisa Schmid of Folsom will take participants on a walking tour to all the places in Folsom mention in her young adult novel Ollie Oxley and the Ghost. The tour is free and registration is required. (Good Day Sacramento and Ruby's Books)
  2. Input from Roseville residents is needed to help shape the city's future in the redistricting process. This is not to be confused with the Placer County redistricting that has been featured in The Roseville Daily. This process will redraw the boundary lines WITHIN Roseville for city-related elections, like for representatives and the mayor. Like the county redistricting, lines are redrawn every ten years after a Census to ensure all neighborhoods and voices are heard. Draft maps of proposed new boundaries are being accepted from the public through December 6th. The maps will then go through a review/approval process by the Independent Redistricting Commission. (Roseville Today)
  3. So, the good news about last weekend's monster rain storm is that it delivered about three month's worth of rain to our region in a single pop. The 5.44 inches that fell on Sunday in Sacramento was the most ever recorded in a single day for the city. And, Folsom Lake rose a whopping 12 feet. Bad news: we are not out of drought territory yet. Folsom Lake still stands at only 27% of its usually capacity for this time of year. Read more about what we need to see in order to say "adios" to this drought. (KCRA Sacramento)
  4. Did you know that you can get free Mobility Training from our Roseville Transit, Placer County Transit and Auburn Transit departments? Our region is committed to helping seniors, disabled persons and others who do not drive maintain their mobility and independence getting around to all the cool things happening. A trainer will even travel with you on a few trips until you are ready to ride solo. Check it out! (Roseville Transit webpage)

Today in Roseville:

  • Grab the little goblins and head over to California Family Fitness at 5001 Foothills Blvd. for Trunk-or-Treat. You don't have to be members to get some tasty treats at this event. If you want to decorate your trunk and help hand out candy, contact them ASAP. 5:00pm-7:00pm
  • Is your shower-singing voice ready for its public debut? Whether it is or isn't, you can amaze (or amuse) the crowd at Karaoke Night at Campelli’s Pizza on Cirby Way tonight! 7:00pm-10:00pm
  • The cool thing about dine-out fundraisers is that it's a triple win for 1) the organization doing the fundraising, 2) the business who is getting new traffic and exposure and 3) you, getting out of the kitchen for the night. Get your grub at Tomatina tonight and 15% of the proceeds will go to the Riego Creek Elementary School Parent Teacher Association. Don't forget to present the flier! 4:00pm-7:00pm

About me: About me: My name is Kelly Mays Risse, and I have lived in Roseville just about all my life. I graduated from Roseville High School and majored in Journalism at CSU Sacramento. My husband and I loved growing up and raising our three boys here in the 'Ville. I have watched Roseville evolve from a cheerful little railroad town to a large and diverse city. I love where we live, from the hiking trails to the hip new restaurants, and the people who live here. I am excited to bring the highlights to you in the Roseville Daily!
