We can expect another relatively cool day for this time of year with a high around 90 degrees and a low of 59 tonight. Humidity is holding at about 45%; kind of icky, but not the worst. Breezes should be about 10-15 mph. Temperatures are expected to start rising again tomorrow, so plan your next few days accordingly.
Today’s Top 5 Stories You Need to Know About:
- The first mosquito infected with West Nile Virus in Placer County this season has been detected in the Westpark neighborhood in Roseville, according to a Tweet from the Placer Mosquito & Vector Control District yesterday. The agency traps and tests mosquitoes weekly throughout the county to keep the public informed about the risk of disease. “We encourage residents to wear an EPA-registered repellent to protect themselves from mosquito bites while we plan for treatments to help lower the risk of disease transmission to people,” stated Joel Buettner, Placer Mosquito District Manager. - The Heritage Trail Museums Tour is back for Summer 2021! From now until Sept. 5 you can take a trip back in time by visiting the 18 Placer County museums between Roseville and North Lake Tahoe. Kids entering 1st through 12th grade can do the popular Scavenger Hunt for prizes including a Samsung Galaxy tablet or a Kindle Fire. (RT and HTB)
- If you want to celebrate our nation’s birthday with a bang this year, get to the fireworks stand early. Phantom and TNT, two of the biggest brands for personal use fireworks, are expecting a shortage in supply this year due to container ship issues, seaport clogs and depleted inventory from last year’s surge in sales. Inventory is expected to be 70% less than what the companies usually order for one season. (SacBee)
- Local youth have been hanging with our Roseville Fire Department all this week at Fire Kids Camp. Each year, except last year during the pandemic, campers participate in physical fitness and team building activities, learn first aid/CPR/babysitting basics and compete as teams in other fun, educational activities. Check out the videos and photos on the RFD Facebook! (RFD)
- The City of Roseville wants to help you make smart changes in your home to reduce energy use – and your utility bill. And if that’s not enough incentive, they want to give you rebates too! The Bright Ideas program has a series of videos with easy, low-cost, do-it-yourself steps to help you become an energy saver. Bright Ideas indeed. (CoR)

About me
My name is Kelly Mays Risse, and I have lived in Roseville just about all my life. I graduated from Roseville High School majored in Journalism at CSU Sacramento. If you recognize me, it may be from St. Clare Church, where I have worked for the past 10 years. Or maybe from the myriad activities my husband and I have been part of while raising our three boys here. I have watched Roseville grow from a cheerful little railroad town to a large and diverse city. I love where we live, from the hiking trails to the hip new restaurants, and the people who live here. I am excited to bring the highlights to you!
