Here are the top stories in Roseville today:

  1. Congratulations to the West Park High School varsity football team, who made history on Friday night! The team is the first to win a league championship in its first season of play. The Panthers celebrated as they took the title for the Greater Sacramento League with a 36-28 win over Cordova High School. Well done! (Gold Country Media)
  2. Little goblins at Kaiser Hospital in Roseville who thought they would be spending their Halloween staring at the walls of their room got a magical surprise instead! The inspiration of Child Life Specialist Traci Aoki-Tan and the result of the hard work of several volunteers transformed the hospital playroom into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, to the delight of pediatric patients and their families. The hospital team is considering making this an annual tradition. (Roseville Today)
  3. Selfies (or “usies,” if you are a Ted Lasso fan) are a staple of social media culture, where a picture is worth a thousand tweets. If you feel your selfie game needs a little help, The Selfie Boutique in the Galleria has you covered. Its got several striking backgrounds to take your profile pic to the next level. There are a handful of packages available, a party option and even a way to get prints on site. No appointment necessary! (Good Day Sacramento)
  4. It comes as no surprise to anyone trying to buy a house right now that the Greater Sacramento Area tops a new list of the least affordable new home markets in the nation. Real estate-technology firm Knock compared median household incomes with median new home construction mortgages to compile the list. We are tied with Miami, Florida at the number one spot. And renters are feeling the crunch too as rental rates rise right along with the increases in home prices. The squeeze in Sacramento is attributed mostly to a shortage of available homes in the market. (FOX Business)
  5. If you are like me and have little to no will-power when it comes to sweets, and you are staring at a bowl full of leftover Halloween candy not-so-innocently sitting on your counter, there are several options available to you – besides binge-eating said candy. Check out this possibly life-saving, definitely waistline-saving, list of suggestions from our local news folks. (KCRA 3)

Roseville Patch Notebook:

  • Congratulations are also in order for the Roseville High School Varsity football team for making the playoffs in the Capital Valley Conference, part of the CIF-SacJoaquin Section. Claws out, Tigers! (Facebook)
  • Our Roseville Firefighters want to remind us that Movember is here. What is Movember? It’s a chance to raise awareness about men’s health issues like prostate cancer, testicular cancer and suicide. If you’re a man, or someone who loves a man (I do!), take this month to educate yourself about these issues and do what you can to practice early detection and prevention. There’s a whole website of information at us.Movember.com to get you started! (Facebook)
  • Oh. My. Gosh. Sacramento has a Fried Chicken Trail! Area restaurants are proving that you don’t have to take a trip to the South to enjoy the best of this classic American favorite. Apparently, there is a trail passport you can download on your phone that will direct you to restaurants on the trail (maybe don’t visit them all in one day? Or do, I won’t judge). Staff at the locations will check you in on the passport for a chance to prizes. Like the chicken isn’t prize enough?! (Only in Your State)

My husband and I loved growing up and raising our three boys here in the 'Ville. I have watched Roseville evolve from a cheerful little railroad town to a large and diverse city. I love where we live, from the hiking trails to the hip new restaurants, and I love the people who live here. I am excited to bring the highlights to you in The Roseville Daily!
