Here are the top five stories today in Roseville:

  1. With the Census-informed redistricting completed, election district boundaries for Roseville have changed. While our City Councilmembers are elected to serve all of Roseville, each of the five districts in the city vote to fill only one seat. You can use this interactive map to view the new boundaries and to determine which district you are in until the next Census in 2030. (City of Roseville)
  2. A four-story, 18-unit project slated for 129 Vernon St. could break ground as soon as July, according to the Granite Bay-based developer Camran Nojoomi of Javanmard Holdings LLC. The completed building will have apartments on the upper floors ranging from 400-square-foot studios to 1,100-square-foot, two-bedroom units. The ground floor will contain retail, possibly including a restaurant. Once construction begins, the $8 million project should take about a year to finish. 3. An article referenced in the Daily yesterday gave us an overview of how our Roseville Public Library (RPL) is using new tech to reach out to more people. Today we continue to celebrate National Library Week with an informative and interesting article detailing some unique features of each of RPL’s three branches. Read on about the cool things that make the Downtown, Maidu and Martha Riley Libraries each a “mini-destination” you should check out. (Roseville Today)
  4. Sheriff’s deputies apprehended two people suspected of committing fraudulent transactions using counterfeit $100 bills at two Placer County locations on March 29. The suspects, 62-year-old Jay Hatfield and 43-year-old Elaine Pipes were reportedly seen buying items with the funny money at a Home Depot in Auburn. A search of one suspect and their car yielded more phony $100 bills, a meth pipe and a recent receipt from a CVS in Rocklin. (CBS 13)
  5. Aiming to assist lawmakers to incorporate climate change concerns into their decision-making process, the California Legislative Analyst’s Office released a series of reports Wednesday on the dire impact climate change is expected to have on the state. According to the report, the economic costs will be felt in most aspects of daily life and “will spare no one in California.” Scientists continue to stress that the most severe effects may yet be averted with increased efforts to reduce greenhouse gases, though international accords have fallen short thus far.
