  1. The Roseville neighborhood near Zola Avenue and Margaret Way spent most of yesterday sheltering in place as Roseville Police pursued a kidnapping suspect out of San Joaquin County. The suspect was on foot after leaving his vehicle and police were confident of his location, but unsure if he was armed. The Rocklin/Roseville Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit and the Critical Incident Negotiation Team (CINT) spent several hours trying to convince the suspect to surrender. Placer County Sheriffs offered air support at the scene. The incident was unresolved as of press time yesterday. (Gold Country Media and )
  2. A home in the Pleasant Grove neighborhood was seriously damaged by a fire that broke out around noon yesterday. Roseville Fire crews were able to keep the fire from spreading to more homes, except for some fence and exterior damage to a house next door. Firefighters were at the scene about four hours. The estimated cost of damage to both homes is $800,000. (Gold Country Media)
  3. Fire crews continue to fight the River Fire in Placer and Nevada counties near Colfax. With the fire at 68% containment, units continue to strengthen containment lines around homes and snuff out hot spots to prevent fire growth. Some evacuated areas have been opened for residents (with a pass) to check on their property. Cal Fire anticipates full containment by Friday. (CBS Sacramento)
  4. The City of Folsom closed several city-owned open spaces deemed "hazardous fire areas" in response to an unprecedented fire season this summer. The Folsom Fire Department has responded to 47 fires, all caused by people, in the city's open spaces this year. The city owns approximately 1,000 acres of open spaces. Established trails, bicycle paths and parks will remain open to the public. (Roseville Today and City of Folsom)
  5. The California Department of Public Health's (CDPH) updated guidelines require students seeking an exemption from indoor mask mandates to provide a note signed by a health care professional. Exempted students would still be required to wear alternative, less-restrictive protective gear, such as a face shield, if their situation allows for it. The CDHP expects to update their requirements/recommendations by November 1st. (KCRA)
