NorCal Teens Accused Of Destroying Baby Nursery With Fireworks: Report

CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA — Three Northern California teens are facing arson charges after being accused of using fireworks to destroy a family's baby nursery, according to a CBS News report.

A camera captured the three teenage girls tossing the fireworks into the Citrus Heights home, a city about 15 miles northeast of Sacramento, on June 30, according to the report.

The video shows at least one person igniting something in their hand before tossing it through the window. Two girls then run off-screen.

Although the fire department quickly put out the fire, the nursery suffered severe damage, and everything inside was destroyed or contaminated.

"It was devastating," Leslie Morgan, the mom-to-be, told CBS. "I couldn't imagine anyone wanting to do something like that."

The girls, whose names were not disclosed because of their age, were arrested and charged with aggravated arson, arson, burglary, and conspiracy, police said, according to CBS.

A fundraiser has since been set up to help the family get back on track and has surpassed expectations. As of Wednesday, it has raised $21,969 out of the $20,000 goal.

"We're asking for any support you can give to help ease this burden during what should be one of the happiest times in their lives," according to the fundraiser. "Every donation, no matter the amount, will go toward replacing the baby's furniture, clothing, diapers, and other necessities, as well as helping them recover from the damage."
