Rivian's nearly 60,000-square-foot Sacramento project moves closer to reality as city review gets underway (nsarrow.com) — Rivian's planned 60,000-square-foot facility on Northgate Boulevard in Sacramento is moving into the city's site plan and design review, and residents can submit written comments through mid-October. The project would upgrade an existing warehouse, add EV chargers, and bring new jobs and economic activity to District 1 neighborhoods like Natomas and Northgate.
2. Sacramento's Greek Festival brings food, music and culture (kcra.com) — Sacramento's long-running Greek Festival is in full swing this weekend at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church near McKinley Park, with food, music, and cultural activities continuing through Sunday evening. Admission is $5, but kids 12 and under and bicyclists get in free, making it an easy last-minute outing for local families and neighbors.
3. Sacramento furniture and mattress store suffers 'significant' burn damage in commercial fire (fox40.com) — A commercial furniture and mattress store on Florin Road in south Sacramento sustained heavy fire damage Saturday night, briefly closing nearby streets while firefighters battled the blaze. Crews from Sac Metro Fire and Sacramento Fire contained the fire without injuries and confirmed no one was inside, while investigators now work to determine what sparked the incident.
4. 4 arrested; stole, dismantled golf cart in Sacramento (fox40.com) — Sacramento police arrested four people Friday night after they were reportedly dismantling a stolen golf cart on South Land Park Drive near Bing Maloney Golf Course and then tried to flee officers. With help from an air unit, officers tracked suspects to a nearby apartment complex, booking them on theft and evading charges while one person remains at large.
5. Aftershock's bars: what the Sacramento music fest offers to thirsty fans on a budget (sacbee.com) — If you're heading to Aftershock at Sacramento's Discovery Park, you'll find four themed bar areas offering everything from tiki cocktails to sports-bar vibes, with most drinks around $19–$22. Reporters walked each space to compare prices, comfort, and atmosphere so you can decide where to cool off, sit down, or stretch your drink budget.
