Big Bear Barges Into CHP Office: WATCH

TRUCKEE, CA — A bear roaming around Truckee earlier this month was caught on camera visiting the Donner Pass California Highway Patrol Office. Surveillance video shows the big animal open the door and walk in to investigate for potential snacks.

In the reflection of the glass, Smokey can be seen walking down the hallway. On its way out, the bear passes right by the vending machines full of snacks and out the door to the parking lot. Moments later, two CHP officers are seen following the bear.

About a week later, the curious creature returned and was caught on camera wandering around the parking lot. The first video, which was posted on Nov. 18, was shared more than 1,000 times and garnered 195 comments. The enhanced video has been viewed more than 116,000 times.

Authorities in Nevada County encounter bears on a regular basis.
