Fellow Elk Grove Residents,
A major project is brewing in our backyard—one that most people don’t even know about. The Elk Grove Planning Commission will soon hear and vote on the proposed Maverik development at the corner of Grant Line Road and E. Stockton Blvd.
Maverik is presenting this project as just a gas station. In reality, it’s far more than that—it’s a truck stop. This 24/7 operation will bring with it serious consequences: increased crime, traffic, pollution, noise, loitering, sex trafficking, drug activity, and prostitution—all issues commonly associated with truck stops.
This is not your typical gas station. With two fueling canopies, 10 high-speed diesel pumps, a nearly 6,000-square-foot convenience store, and 450,000 gallons of underground fuel storage, this massive fueling center is designed to serve big rigs. It is a disastrous proposal that threatens our quality of life.
As Elk Grove residents, we—not an out-of-state corporation chasing profits—should decide what developments shape the future of where we live, work, and raise our families.
Please join us at City Hall this Thursday to make your voices heard. Our families, our children, our community, and the future of our city depend on it.
