There is probably a 50% chance that you are wearing clothing that has been dyed with indigo. It’s the color that unites the world. Sacramento Collective for the Textile Arts (SCTA) is bringing the local community together with indigo dyeing. On Saturday, June 20, 2026 SCTA will host their 4th Annual Community Indigo Dip Dye Day at Shepard Garden & Arts Center in McKinley Park. Indigo Dip Dye participants can choose from 2 workshops: Itajime (folding/ clamping) Shibori $35 -1 hour class with Artist: LuAnne Hansen or Mokume (hand stitching) Shibori $50- 2 hour class with Artist: Grey Breuwen. Particpants are welcome to sign up for both classes and spend the day creating a beautiful piece of wearable art; It is recommended that participants wear old clothes and shoes or bring an apron or smock to protect their clothes. All materials are included with registration fee. Community Indigo Dip Dye Day will run in conjunction with SCTA’s annual Art Elephant Sale of arts and craft materials. The Art Elephant Sale is a free popular swap-meet style event, perfect for finding something to add a special touch to a project or getting inspiration to try something new.
