Here are the top stories today in Sacramento:

  1. Get excited (and hungry) Sacramento! The much anticipated, much awaited Farm-to-Fork Festival is BACK this Friday and Saturday! Sacramento loves our ranchers, growers and producers and they're all going to be here for you letting you gawk at and taste their amazing wares. If you want to talk to the guy that talked to the cow that was your dinner last night, this is where you can find him! Or if you'd rather meet the woman that created your Grenache with panache she'll be there, too! Come out and enjoy the fresh, delicious, sustainable agriculture that makes Sacramento the Farm-to-Fork Capital! (FOX40)
  2. Starting next week, up to a hundred people will be able to stay at the X Street Navigation Center, the city's newest homeless shelter. More than just a place to sleep, there will also be life skills classes, recovery assistance, medical care, financial counseling and services to help people transition from homelessness to permanent housing. The facility is available to adult clients by referral only. The city says that priority will be given to those experiencing homelessness in Oak Park, Curtis Park and near Broadway and Alhambra Boulevard. (KCRA3)
  3. The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office is looking for two children who were allegedly abducted by their biological mother. The children were reported missing from their home in South Sacramento on Aug. 23 by their adoptive family. Cheriyah Dizon, 8, and Aaron Safrans, 12, were last seen playing outside their apartment complex near the 8100 block of Waterman Road. The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office says a woman named Reychel Dizon is wanted in the children's disappearance. She had abducted them before in 2019 according to the sheriff. (ABC10)
  4. More than 4,000 Sacramento State students have not met the school's new COVID-19 vaccine certification deadline, officials say. Monday was the deadline for students and employees to provide proof they have been vaccinated. With the school's total enrollment typically around 30,000, this means that about 13 percent of CSUS students didn't make the deadline. Students who fail to meet the criteria by September 27th will be disenrolled. (CBS Sacramento)
  5. The newly renovated SAFE Credit Union Performing Arts Center opened Sept. 15 with the Sacramento premiere of "Hamilton", which runs through Oct. 10. The City of Sacramento has been working to renovate and expand the SAFE Credit Union Performing Arts Center since 2019 at a cost of approximately $120 million. The renovated Performing Arts Center features 2,193 seats plus 24 seating areas for wheelchairs, and currently serves as home to many performing arts groups. (Sacramento City Express)
