Man Assaulted Woman, Stole Her Vehicle In Stockton, Police Say

STOCKTON, CA — A 34-year-old man was arrested after allegedly assaulting a woman and stealing her vehicle in Stockton's Lakeview District Saturday afternoon.

Jason Smith was accused of carjacking, resisting arrest, battery and a firearm-related crime, according to the Stockton Police Department.

Smith allegedly struck the victim in the 5600 block of North Pershing Avenue before taking her vehicle by force.

He was taken into custody after a foot chase when the vehicle was located, police said.
