Merryhill Preschool Students in Natomas Release Ladybugs for Earth Day

Students celebrate Earth Day and protecting the environment by releasing beneficial bugs into their schoolyard to help local vegetation

Students at Merryhill Preschool on Danbrook Drive in Natomas recently explored a bug’s life in celebration of Earth Day as they released ladybugs throughout the schoolyard and back into the environment on plants, flowers and trees. Student had raised the 60 ladybugs from larvae and released them once they reached maturity.

Leading up to Earth Day, students learned that ladybugs serve as a natural pesticide by feeding on insects that could otherwise harm the health of gardens, trees and shrubs. Merryhill Preschool teaches the importance of community and exploring nature at an early age.
