The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Sacramento.

Hey, people of Sacramento! Jeri Karges here with today's copy of the Sacramento Daily.
First, today's weather:
Cooler with a thundershower. High: 61 Low: 43.
Here are the top five stories in Sacramento today:
- As part of the statewide Shoulder Tap Program, the Sacramento Police Department visited seven ABC-licensed locations, contacting 43 individuals, citing six for furnishing alcohol to minors, and arresting one suspect for possessing illegal narcotics for sale. The penalty for furnishing alcohol to a minor is a minimum $1,000 fine and 24 hours of community service. The program is intended to reduce the availability of alcohol to minors. Many of the local operations were funded by the ABC through the department's Alcohol Policing Partnership Program and some were funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The goal of the operation is to heighten awareness about the dangers of underage drinking and to demonstrate the serious consequences for adults that buy alcohol for minors. (Press Release Desk)
- A new park was unveiled in south Sacramento on Saturday. The Susan B. Anthony Community Park was officially opened to the public with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The park is located in the Detroit neighborhood just south of Susan B. Anthony Elementary School. Chinua Rhodes, Sacramento City Unified School District Board of Education trustee said real investments in south Sacramento mean quality of life will go up including access to amenities and good education. He said this park is just the start. (KCRA3)
- Hundreds of families united for a march and rally in Sacramento on Saturday to honor Cesar Chavez ahead of Cesar Chavez Day on March 31. People from all different backgrounds and cultures came out to show their support. Marchers made their way to the state Capitol with signs and flags in hand. State offices and public schools will close in California on Thursday as Cesar Chavez Day is observed. Activists hope families will honor the day by doing something kind for their neighbors. (KCRA3)
- Almost two months since arresting and seizing active pipe bombs from 23-year-old Cody Wiggs for allegedly blowing up cars in January, a second suspect is now in custody, Sacramento police reported. According to a Facebook post from the Sacramento Police Department, officers believe 33-year-old Darren Melton was also involved in the manufacturing and possession of the explosive devices that resulted in multiple cars being destroyed earlier this year in the south Oak Park neighborhood. (ABC10)
- The Elk Grove Planning Commission on March 17 unanimously approved a conditional use permit and design changes for a rehabilitation and medical services facility on the northeast corner of Lotz and Whitelock parkways. This skilled nursing facility will provide boarding services for patients that require short-term medical care. The project was initially planned to be a two-story facility. However, the approved, revised version is a single-story project with two patient wings that will be joined by a central, main building. There will be 30 private rooms in each patient wing.
