First, today's weather: Clear throughout the day. High: 104 Low: 67.

Here are the top stories in Sacramento today:

  1. Famed Sacramento restauranteur Randy Paragary has passed away at 74, shortly after having been diagnosed with cancer. Paragary opened his first restaurant in 1969 called ParaPow Palace. Since then, his name has become synonymous with the restaurant scene in Sacramento. Along with his partner Kurt Spataro, Paragary had eight locations in the region with five different concepts. He also made major investments in the downtown Sacramento area, and is considered a pioneer in K Street's revitalization. He will be missed. (KCRA3)
  2. A Sacramento police officer is facing domestic violence charges stemming from an event that happened on May 6. The officer has been on administrative leave since report of the initial incident. Originally, the DA's office declined to file charges, but while investigating a different allegation regarding anabolic steroid use, they uncovered new evidence in the domestic violence case and are now pressing charges in that case. (KCRA3)
  3. The Sacramento Police Department is stepping up its presence in Old Sacramento after a rise in crime including two deadly shootings in the last two months. Business owners, the Mayor's office and SPD are coming together to find more solutions to keep Old Sac vibrant for those who enjoy the shops, dining and museums along the waterfront. (KCRA3)
  4. If you see a bunch of sheep and goats grazing on grass at a park near you, thank them! They may be part of a pilot program through the Department of Youth, Parks, & Community Enrichment, to find sustainable ways to cut down on the fire danger that dry grasses pose. If the pilot is successful, the City will will decide whether to move forward with the program annually. (Sacramentocityexpress.com)
  5. Local artists will be demonstrating their craft live at DOCO over the next month. You can watch Esther Marie Hall and Joha Harrison painting 8-foot X 8-foot exterior pop-up murals. Then, you can step inside near Getta Clue and see 5 local artists - Hall, Harrison, Aliyah Sidqe, Jt/Jermaine Tilson and Sarah Marie Hawkins - utilize interior storefront space as their pop-up studio for media including painting, collage, textiles, drawing and more.
